Mr. Culhane originally hails from south western Pennsylvania. He attended Washington and Jefferson College, a small private institution of higher learning where he received his undergraduate degree. For the previous 10 years, Mr. Culhane worked for Pressley Ridge Schools, a multi state agency that helps troubled kids. For the entire ten year period, he worked at the Ohiopyle site. This program was a Therapeutic Wilderness Camp for juvenile delinquents. Mr. Culhane started in the program as a teacher-counselor in charge of a group of ten youths, and finished as Program Coordinator in charge of all day to day aspects off this 60 bed facility. Needless to say, after 10 years of working outside in Pennsylvania winters, he is absolutely thrilled to be living in Florida. |

I love teaching Science and helping students learn all about the world around them! This is my first year at Oasis Middle School although I have been teaching for 14 years and I'm a certified teacher in both Massachusetts and Florida. My education background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Emmanuel College, Boston, MA and a Master of Education in Science Education K-8 from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. I'm very excited about our new ECHO Schoolyard Garden which is the Science Department's service learning project this year; and it will be a wonderful addition to the school curriculum as well as to our salad bar! I will also be directing the school Science Fair this fall. I live on beautiful Pine Island with Toby, Burger and Lila, my dogs and cat, and spend my time practicing yoga, kayaking and reading (not at the same time!) when I'm not in the classroom. |

After graduating from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in Family Relations and Human Development, Monica Eppler decided to leave behind the cold Midwestern winters and move to Florida. Her relocation introduced her to a career with DCF in foster care and protective supervision, from where she moved onto work as a family law case manager with the 20th Judicial Circuit Family Court Services. Inspired by the children and families she met while working with DCF, Monica decided teaching was her true calling and she joined the Oasis family in 2007. |
