Media Center/TV Production Studio:

The media center/library houses a collection of approximately 7,100 titles.  Novels, periodicals, magazines and videos line the shelves for students and staff to enjoy.  The media center has textbooks available for check out and also computers to help students with their homework and any school projects. It is open before school so students can come in early and work on assignments as needed.  The TV production studio is also located here.  The studio area has video cameras, studio lighting and a news desk.  A separate room houses  master control with audio and video mixer equipment, DVD decks and computer equipment. Students produce high quality morning newscasts, commercials and projects that are aired on the school's internal TV channel.

Art Studio:

The art room has large work tables for students to produce fine works of art.  There are pottery wheels, a kiln and drying racks.  Student's art work are regularly displayed in the hallways for everyone to enjoy.

The tech lab houses 24 networked PCs.  Students learn TV Production techniques, how to edit movies,  use still photos, video clips and specialized editing software to create video productions.  The lab incorporates software to enable the teacher to monitor student progress, ensure they are on task, provide feedback and demonstrate procedures to all PC's in the lab. The lab also serves as a training area for staff and faculty.

School Grade:

The State of Florida gives its schools a grade each year, using the results of the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) and other data. Oasis Middle School received the highest grade of A.

Parent Involvement:

It is a requirement that each family spend 30 hours of parent involvement time at our school during the year. Research clearly shows that when parents value and support education, the children achieve at a higher rate. We have a multitude of opportunities to become involved.  Oasis Middle School is a family-oriented facility with fun activities throughout the year.

Technology:

The school is equipped with latest in technology. There are networked thin client computers in many of the classrooms,  Smartboards (77" interactive white board) in each class along with a digital document camera projecting anything placed under it onto the Smartboard.  DVD/VCR Players, audio speakers and printers round out the technology available in our classrooms.  Future technology plans include mobile laptop lab carts and audio voice enhancement for teachers.

Uniforms:

Our school believes that students need to dress in a professional manner, like they are coming to work. Our uniforms are easy on the budget, and consist of blue, green, or purple polo shirts with our school logo (purchased at school through the P.T.O. for a very reasonable price), and khaki or navy bottoms in a variety of styles that can be purchased at many stores.  Please reference the student handbook for specific details on student uniforms and dress codes.
